Our Sand Creek Greenway is again hosting a volunteer work day project at the Commerce City Wetland Park for the 2019 Xcel Energy Day of Service, Saturday, September 7, from 8 am to 11 am.

Advance sign-up for this event is required, and can be done here.

At the time of posting, there are still openings for volunteers for this most popular day. The Xcel Energy Day of Service began several years ago to honor the anniversary of September 11, 2001. Over the years, the event has grown to involve thousands of Xcel Energy employees and customers as well as their families and friends in service projects across the state.

And over the years, the volunteers have contributed greatly to the health and appearance of the Greenway at the Wetland Park. Park structures have been painted, trees have been protected from beaver damage, native species have been planted, milkweed seed bombs have been made and hundreds and hundreds of bags of trash have been collected and removed from this special place.

We thank all the volunteers over the years who have devoted their time, energy and determination to make our Greenway and the Wetland Park a better place for metro area citizens to recreate and enjoy nature. Thanks to Xcel Energy for your leadership in creating this special day, and our other donors supporting volunteerism. Together, we’ve made a difference!
