Ready for a satisfying and surprising dive into the world of mushrooms and the Norwegian mushroom community? Join us January 9 for our next Nature Book Club meeting to discuss Long Litt Woon’s The Way Through the Woods: on Mushrooms and Mourning.
Immediately popular and with now more than 15 international editions, this is an entertaining and engaging (and sometimes funny) combination of memoir + nature writing. It is described as “inspiring” and “healing” and may be just what we need during these dark months.
Registration is here.
Our Nature Book Club is a collaboration between Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership and Aurora Parks Recreation and Open Space naturalist team. We meet monthly via zoom and when we can, in person on the trail. This is a FREE program, though registration is required each month. (And here’s the answer to the question no one likes to ask–YES, you are still VERY welcome to attend book club even if you didn’t finish the book!)
Clik here to view.

“Like mushrooms themselves, The Way Through the Woods is surprising, comforting, and completely engrossing. Woon takes us foraging not just through the fascinating world of fungi but also through her personal grief. Like Sound of a Wild Snail Eating and H is for Hawk, her gorgeous, intimate encounter with unfamiliar species teaches us that observing nature carefully is both inspiring and healing.”—Juli Berwald, author of Spineless: The Science of Jellyfish and the Art of Growing a Backbone
