June 3–Sand Creek Greenway staff learned of a significant trail closure that will begin JUNE 10 for a water control construction project. Quebec to Central Park Blvd bridge in Denver will be closed for several months, as large construction vehicles will provide a safety hazard for trail users; the geography of Sand Creek, the trail and the project provide few options for detours. Trail users will be routed north through the Northfield area through the summer and early fall.
We know many of you use the Greenway to get to work, school, shopping and rely on it for recreation and access to nature. We regret the length and extent of this closure and we’re hoping to secure an early “open” date.
At this time, the closure is expected to last from June 10 to October 25.
